Discovering Resilience: The Journey in

Updated: Dec 29, 2025

When people hear that Almost Gone is a memoir, they often assume they know what kind of story it is. They think it’s just about addiction. Or just about a coma. Or just about bad prescriptions and a broken system.

Those elements are part of it, but they’re not the whole story. Almost Gone is really about what happens after everything falls apart.

The Awakening After Trauma

It’s about waking up when you weren’t supposed to. It’s about realizing your body doesn’t work the way it used to. There’s a quiet fear that creeps in when the doctors leave the room, and you’re left alone with your thoughts.

It’s about the moments no one sees. The frustration of learning how to do basic things again. The anger. The guilt. The questions you don’t know how to ask out loud.

This book is for people who have been through something that changed them—even if no one else noticed.

Who This Book Is For

It’s for:

  • Anyone who has struggled with addiction, directly or indirectly.

  • Families who have watched someone they love almost disappear.

  • People who were failed by a system that was supposed to protect them.

  • Anyone trying to rebuild their life after illness, trauma, or loss.

It’s also for those who believe in second chances—even when they don’t come easy.

The Truth Behind the Story

I didn’t write Almost Gone to point fingers for the sake of it. I wrote it to tell the truth. I wanted to document what happens when warning signs are missed, when prescriptions aren’t questioned, and when human lives become paperwork.

But I also wrote it to show that survival doesn’t end at the hospital doors. Sometimes, survival begins there.

A Personal Journey of Recovery

If you’ve ever felt like life knocked you down and kept walking, this story is for you. If you’ve ever wondered whether you could come back from something that nearly broke you, then this story was written with you in mind.

I want to share my journey. I want to inspire others to find their own path to recovery. My experiences taught me that healing is not just physical; it's emotional and spiritual too.

The Role of Faith in Healing

Faith played a significant role in my recovery. It gave me hope when I had none. It reminded me that I was not alone. I learned to lean on my faith during the darkest times. It became my anchor.

I believe that everyone has the strength to overcome their struggles. It may not be easy, but it is possible. I want readers to know that they can find purpose after addiction.

Finding Purpose After Pain

After everything I went through, I discovered a new purpose. I realized that sharing my story could help others. I could raise awareness about the dangers of unchecked prescriptions and a broken medical system.

This memoir is not just about my struggles; it’s about resilience. It’s about the power of the human spirit to rise again.

A Message of Hope

Thank you for reading. Thank you for listening. I hope my story resonates with you. I hope it inspires you to keep fighting, to keep believing in second chances.

Together, we can navigate the complexities of recovery. Together, we can find our way back to life.
