👤 Author Bio
My name is Robert B. Routt
My life changed dramatically when a series of medical treatments led to escalating prescriptions, dependency, and a near-fatal cardiac event. My heart stopped, requiring multiple defibrillation attempts before a paramedic’s persistence brought him back.
I spent three and a half weeks in a coma and faced a long, painful recovery. Rather than remain silent, I chose to document the experience in Almost Gone, a powerful memoir exposing the human cost of prescription dependency and systemic failures within healthcare.
I am a veteran of the U.S. Navy Seabees, I now speak openly about survival, accountability, faith, and second chances, encouraging individuals and families to advocate for their own health and well-being.
